Apples and pork go together like cookies and milk. They just do.
My Apple-Cinnamon Lemon-Pepper Pork Chops recipe is a winner. It is made easy using a store-bought marinade. You can find a lemon-pepper marinade easily in your grocery store. Cook it up in the oven or a slow cooker. It’s so simple and tasty!
Marinade your porkchops in a bowl for at least 30 minutes, even longer if you want. I like to use thin-sliced pork chops, but you could use thick ones if you prefer. After marinating, lay them in a (single layer) baking dish. Line your baking dish with aluminum foil for easier clean-up. Or, put them in your slow cooker that has been sprayed with cooking oil. Begin baking them at 350-375 degrees in the oven for 30-45 minutes. I start out at 350 degrees since my oven bakes hot. Or, on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours in your slow cooker. Of course, the slow cooker method consistently produces unbeatable meat tenderness. But, I generally bake them in the oven.
Now it’s time to prepare the apples. I grind up two apples, stir it with a couple dashes of cinnamon and a pinch of sugar (I use Truvia). I actually use several dashes of cinnamon, because that is how I like it – loaded with cinnamon! You could spiralize, chop or grind up your apples. Most recently, I experimented using my spiralizer, it was great. My photos on this page are from that experiment. I do prefer grinded or chopped apples best though, simply based on looks. The taste is the same any way method you choose. Just don’t grind up the apples so much that they turn into an applesauce. You want to have some texture. The texture of the apples really compliment the pork. Red-delicious is my apple of choice for this recipe.
Nearing the end of your baking time, you will need to add your cinnamon apples into the baking dish. Remove the baking dish from the oven, spoon your apples over the pork chops, and return to oven. Or, in your crock, remove the lid just long enough to spoon the apple mixture on top of the porkchops. Let them bake with the pork chops for at least 10 minutes in the oven. Or, about an hour in the slow cooker.
Serve them along with a baked sweet potato! -Enjoy!
